Conference President's Visits

Saundy and I ministered at the Greenville Church on January 20th. We enjoyed the fellowship of the Johnsons and their wonderful church family. The Greenville area has been struggling through some difficult economic setbacks. God has been faithful to the Greenville Bible Methodist Church family during these days and is giving spiritual victory! Byron Reynolds, one of the church laymen, has started his own business selling kitchen cabinets. I have been praying that God will pour out his blessings on this new, Christian business.

Trudy Kelley, who lived in the trailer by the tabernacle, passed away and her funeral was January 26, here at the Rock Lake Church. That was a wonderful Christian funeral!

Last weekend, we traveled to Westfield, Indiana, to speak at a restaurant couples meeting planned by the MOPS group that is lead by Roanna Lindahl. We stayed in the home of Rev. and Mrs. Monte Stetler and preached at Village Park on Sunday morning. That was exciting for us, since we got to see Valerie (Krohn) Gross and her family. Valerie grew up in our Dawn Valley Church. Leland and Roanna had us to their home for Sunday dinner. We are so proud of this young couple and their faithfulness to Jesus and music ministry. Sunday evening found us at our Ironwood Bible Methodist Church to share the evening message there. After service the church family shared an evening soup, sandwich and dessert carry-in. We spent the night at Bro. and Sis. Sam Lindahl's and enjoyed visiting with them. Kevin Robinson is leading the services and preaching at the present time.

God has blessed Rock Lake with a growing church family. We are doing the detailed work in preparation to build a new sanctuary on the existing chapel building. That is to begin in May as the Lord helps us.

Last night, with the winter storm, we cancelled prayer meeting. Today, the sun is trying to shine and the snow is hanging beautifully on the trees.

Update on Logan Sankey from Melodie

"Hi, everyone. Here's the latest on Logan. The second pathology report from the biopsy revealed a fungal component mixed with the what-had-been infectious material behind and beside his eye.

Knowing this and seeing as how the week of steroids he just took didn't help the proptosis/eye bulging, as of today the Infectious Disease doctor has decided to "shift gears" and target the fungus that he apparently has in his ethmoid sinus extending into the orbit of the eye. She has put him on VERY expensive anti-fungal therapy for an indefinite amount of time. He starts that new medicine tomorrow; he is still taking the Vancomycin by PICC line at least until the middle of February. He is to be tested for tuberculosis, have a chest x-ray taken, and more blood drawn to pinpoint the kind of fungus present - all in the next few days.

The good news is that fungus is treatable, even though it is "slow to grow, slow to go". We do know that he has chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps - basically what the ENT called sinus disease. It could be the case that all of this caused the fungus to grow/develop even over a long period of time - we don't know how long.

The proptosis is beginning to cause Logan some pain - more than before. We are really in hopes that treating the fungus will allow the inflammation to recede, thus allowing the eye to fall back into its normal orbit.

But due to how the situation seems to be stabilizing at least for a couple weeks, Marc is planning to keep his commitment to Sea Breeze Camp 2008 in Hobe Sound, Florida as one of the main evangelists and he will be flying out a week from today. Jordan and Cameron are SO excited, because they get to go with him! Logan and I will stay here and "get better" - we hope and pray. We'll definitely be logging on to as many services as we possibly can.

Logan turns 9 a week from tomorrow - he's coming up with his plan to celebrate! Just so it includes being tied to an IV pole every few hours....

Next month begins the new sub-theme, "The Harvest and the Church". The lovely posters for this year were handed out at camp meeting. The year begins with a quarter focused on teaching the doctrine of holiness in the church. Please let me know how you and your church are helping to prepare for and reach the harvest.

FAMILY RETREAT

The fall Family Retreat will be held on the Rock Lake Camp Grounds, the last weekend of September. Rev. and Mrs. Hilling, and Rev. and Mrs. Wetherald are leading this enjoyable activity.

The "Bible Methodist" Subscription Drive

Rev. Sams will be sending me posters for the subscription drive. I will be sending those to you. We will plan for an October push for Bible Methodist subscriptions.

Note: --- Pastoral Leadership Conference

School of the Prophets and Aldersate Forum will be hosting a Pastoral Leadership Conference at GBS. The dates are October 30 - November 1, 2007. H.B. London will be a guest speaker. Other speakers include, Dr. Allan Brown, Rev. P.D. Wolfe, and Rev. Chris Cravens.

Conference Updates

Rev. and Mrs. Hobbs accepted the pastorate of a church in PA. Please pray for their family as they make this adjustment.

Rev. David Ward has accepted the call of the Evart Church to return as their pastor. He will assume his duties in September.

Evart's Daystar Academy begins classes this week.

Rev. Sam Lindahl has resigned the Ironwood Church. Please pray for the dear folks in Frankton as they seek God's will for a new pastor.

Pray for the children that have been ministered to during our church's Vacation Bible Schools.

Conference President's Schedule

Since camp meeting it has been my privilege to visit the Remus and Petersburg camps. Rev. Darrell Stetler spoke the eveing I attended the Wesleyan Holiness Camp. What a great melting and bonding in Christ we enjoyed in that service. I spoke in two of the morning services the first weekend of the Lower Lights Camp. We had great fellowship with our friends there. Bro. Parker and Bro. Tim Cole were the evangelists.

I spoke in a Sunday evening service at Garfield and then our whole family enjoyed Monday and Tuesday together. We held the new babies and rejoiced together. Then Saundy and I went off to Traverse City and hid for three days. This summer has been nigh unto impossible to figure out a family vacation. On our way back we stopped in at Garfield's closing VBS service since Titus and Cherie were the VBS leaders.

A couple of Sundays ago I preached at Evart as a fill-in until the Wards arrive.

Yesterday was Daron and Amber's little baby's dedication. We crammed 128 into the Rock Lake Church. By the way, the Rock Lake Church just voted to build a sanctuary on to the front of the present chapel building. We will be taking 6 month pledges in a couple of weeks and we will look for what God will do for us in the Spring.

Rev. Ray McCrary Sr. and his dear wife Pansy are ministering to our Pastors and leaders in the Shepherd's Seminar there on the Campus at Villasis, along with Pastor Rob Cravens. God is truly Blessing! Bro. Tim Keep told me by e-mail this morning........ "We're truly having a great time. Today's lectures by Mac and me were blessed by the Lord, and tonight Brendel preached an anointed message on soul winning. Thanks for your prayers. Tomorrow A.M. is Rob's turn." As I write this at 8:37pm..... the Shepherd's Seminar is underway for Wednesday morning.... (they are 13 hours ahead of us there). Let's cover them in prayer!

The URGENT prayer request I have is for the McCrarys! Sis. Pansy McCrary's sister, Carol has just passed away today! Sis. McCrary has just received that word this evening (Wed. morning there)! Bro. Tim Keep has written asking for special prayer for Sis. McCrary! She is very broken over this! Let's lift her in prayer. This may mean that they will need to come home early! That will be a challenge getting flights changed, etc. Please pray that the Lord will work all this out!

Ravenna --- Pastor Joey Kretoski has accepted the call from the Whispering Pines Worship Center to serve as their pastor. He is excited and ready to move into that big parsonage. Please lift Pastor Kretoski and his ministry to God in prayer.

Concord --- Pastor Rosa will move in this week and his first Sunday at Hilltop will be September 3. God bless the Rosas and the Concord people.

Rock Lake -- Pastor Joey Ratcliff will be moving to Rock Lake in mid September. He and his wife Andrea have a little boy, Ethan. Actually, today, their second little boy is to discover America by way of C-section surgery. Please pray for this family.

Sankey's August Missionary Newsletter

Dear Friends and Family,

Hello from the incredibly hot Rio Grande Valley! This is the heat we were told about when we moved here in November of last year. Nobody was stretching the truth! The temperature reached at least 102 degrees today and that has been the norm for several months now. However, we are well and enjoying our life here at Rio Grande Bible Institute and Missionary Language School.

We have many things to share with you today. First of all let me
share with you regarding my recent 2nd trip to Oaxaca, the
southernmost state of Mexico. On Wednesday, August 2nd I began
preaching my first all-Spanish revival at our Bible Methodist Church in Oaxaca City where Hermano Jose Cruz is the pastor. This was only possible because of the HOURS of translation work from my father; thank you, Dad. What an experience it was to stand in front of those dear people and try to minister in their language. It is truly like starting over: sweaty palms, shaky voice, dry mouth and all! However, the Lord helped me in a wonderful way and I trust that through my halting use of the Spanish language, the people were able to hear the Word of the Lord and be ministered to. I stayed again in the home of the Braulius Family and enjoyed the interaction with them as well as Bro. Homero Luna and Bro. Florencio Balderas who traveled with me to
Oaxaca.

On the following Monday, I left for visits to our church in San
Gabriel and the surrounding mountain churches. It was a pleasure
again to visit with our pastors and people there - they are friendly
and warm and I believe they possess a true heart of love for the
Lord. I participated in another baptismal service there and dedicated several babies as well as preaching in Spanish in the churches. Thursday morning was spent visiting our two new churches in Puerto Escondido, RIGHT on the Pacific Ocean. Church planting is in full swing in Oaxaca, thank the Lord. Please pray for these new church plants and for Bro. Desiderio Lopez, the pastor at San Gabriel, and his pastoral team as they lead the charge in church planting.

Thanks to a generous offering from the Junior Church Department of the Burlington BIble Methodist Church, I was able to purchase and take to Oaxaca many wonderful resources for the Mexican people: Children's Bible stories and corresponding workbooks to color, etc., several continued stories, a large illustrated story card set for the entire Christmas season, several Bibles, New Testaments, some tracts for children, several "plan of salvation" booklets, etc. Their joy was evident as they looked at these items designed especially for Hispanic children. Thank you, Burlington, for your vision to help the children in Oaxaca.

Thursday afternoon found me on an airplane heading for Saltillo,
Coahuila, Mexico where I was to preach the weekend of their
campmeeting there. I returned to the border to pick up Melodie and the boys and we arrived at the home of Jose and Anna Correa for our stay in Saltillo. The Lord's presence was felt in every service of the campmeeting there as our family sang in Spanish and I preached 4 times in Spanish also. Needless to say, mistakes were made but the people were gracious and supportive and we left encouraged to press forward with our study of the language. As in Oaxaca, our Bible Methodist people in Saltillo are warm, receptive, and patient with us as we endeavor to communicate and minister among them. It was a pleasure again to fellowship with Pastor Dolores and Sylvia Hernandez and with the Correa Family.

Yesterday I proceeded through the Registration and Orientation
process for my 2nd semester of language study here at RGBI and today was a full day of classes and study. This semester promises already to be quite intense and fast-paced. Please remember me in prayer that I will do well and rapidly learn this beautiful language. Melodie also began her 2nd level of Spanish study using Rosetta Stone today and our boys began homeschool in grades 6, 4, and 2. What a day! We are thoroughly enjoying the Christian fellowship here with the Hispanic Bible Institute students as well as fellow missionary families.

Our Bible Institute President, Eli Balderas and family have moved to Salamanca as of this week and are busy settling in, getting
acclimated to the city and beginning student recruitment for our new Bible Institute, opening August 2007. We would ask for your prayers for them during this time of adjustment and planning for the new Institute. Our plans are to join them in Salamanca in mid-December when our language classes here are finished. Recently, missionaries under appointment Steve and Beth Stetler and their children: Kent and Maria, were able to travel with us to Salamanca to visit the HIM building, the adjacent property that BMMissions now owns and the corner property and house that we are trying to purchase. We all feel that it was extremely profitable for not only all of us personally but for BMMissions as well. There was much discussion about the HIM building and our proposed building in which Steve's talents and abilities were absolutely invaluable - exactly what we need!

We are continuing to make contact with the owner of the large corner property in Salamanca and praying that the doors will open for Bible Methodist Missions to purchase this lot and the house it includes. If you would, please add this to your prayer request list - we are leaving it in the Lord's hands and want to proceed in His timing. We will be helping make some repairs/renovations in the HIM building during this next year to make it ready for the Institute to be functional: able to house students, staff and be suitable for classes, etc. If you have interest in helping in this type of short term misison work, it's not too early to "get your name in" (one church already has) - to make plans to join us next spring and summer for some very necessary manual labor. We need you! I know many of you are not able to make the trip there - however, if you would like to
make a donation to help cover the cost of getting the building ready for the students, it would be such a blessing. Please make your contribution through your local Bible Methodist Church. If that is not possible, please contact us and we will help you contribute through the proper avenue.

> "INVEST AND INVITE" - I'm using "Behold the Harvest" to launch a simple plan for personal evangelism that I found in an excellent little book, "The 7 Practices of Effective Ministry" by Andy Stanley. Every week, I will find some way to encourage my people to "Invest and Invite" -- Invest in someone's life, and invite someone to church. Beginning with the "Behold the Harvest" launch, we will have reminders:
* Personal testimonies
* Spotlight people who are actively inviting.
* Giving practical hints for investing in the lives of non-Christian friends.
* Handing out small business-card sized invitations to people for an upcoming event. (Available at www.outreach.com.)
* Quarterly baptisms on Sunday AM. (If I can raise the money to buy a portable baptistry!)

"Behold the Harvest" WORSHIP SERVICE:
> "BEHOLD THE HARVEST" Powerpoint presentation.
> "INVITING TREE" - (Following the Powerpoint) - Everyone who comes to the service will be given a candle. We will black out the windows, and I will light a candle. I will ask a lady who I invited about three years ago to come up, and I will light her candle... She invited her daughter and son-in-law, so they will come up and light their candles. This will continue until as many people as possible are at the front. At the conclusion, I will invite everyone whose candle is not lit to the front to light theirs, and I will talk about spreading the Light of the Gospel.

Sam Lindahl update...

I tried to call Bro. Lindahl today but did not make contact. I did talk to Leland and he said the perhaps Bro. Sam could come home today. There has not been any really conclusive declaration of what caused the pains in his chest.

The family was to enjoy a vacation the last of this month. Would you ask our Heavenly Father to make that possible if it would please Him.

::Great Lakes Conference News for Aug. 21

Dear Update Readers,

Rev. Sam Lindahl was taken to the hospital yesterday (Sunday) with a blood clot in his lung. Please, please lift him and Sis. Lindahl to the Lord in prayer. These are very stressful days for each of them. Jason, their son, has been doing some of the preaching at Ironwood for Bro. Lindahl after Sam's fall at camp meeting. We certainly appreciate what God is doing in Jason's life!

Please remember that the resolution on Human Sexuality, given to us from General Conference, needs to be ratified by each of our churches. After taking the vote in your church the form that was handed out at our annual conference needs to be returned to me. Let's see if every church can respond before September 1st.

Please pray for the Rock Lake Church's planned outreach on this Saturday. It is called Camp Rodeo and will replace a VBS for this year. It will last from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. We are intensely interested in reaching the children of our community with the message of Jesus Christ.

Also, the Evart church is participating in a special city thrust that is to impact Evart with the Gospel. May God flood that city with His presence on Saturday until God transforms the area with revival fire!

Vandercook has recently dedicated their new church ramp to God and Kingdom work. Bro. Johnson was able to attend the dedication service and speak for them.

Bro. and Sis. Albert Lowe came to the camp ground last week and stayed three nights in the dorm. They painted, replaced broken windows, switched doors around and were a wonderfu blessing! Thank you, Lowes!

Concord is fixing up their parsonage in anticipation of Bro. and Sis. Rosa arriving in early September. Please pray for the Rosa's as they finish up their teaching responsibilities in Korea. We welcome them to the Great Lakes Conference!

The Garfield church held a VBS a couple of weeks ago and they are excited. The church family participated in calling, then VBS skits and support. May the Spirit of God water the seeds that have been planted!

Bro. Johnson is working hard to help his son, Doug, work on his house. This has involved hours and hours of labor. May God bless the Greenville people as they support the Johnson family at this time with their help and love.

Rev. Joel Byer, pastor of the Dawn Valley church, has just started a series of messages, the first of which was on the Trinity. May God bless truth to that church family. Also, Allan and Cindy Langstaff's son, Edward, was just married --- and so life marches on!!!!!

The Ravenna Church will be voting on a pastor next Sunday. Please pray for them and the people they are working with.

Actually, Rock Lake will be voting on a new assistant pastor Wednesday evening. I will let you know the outcome of these votes very shortly!

Continue to lift the Faulkners to the Lord as they work in Kentucky. Their son Greg desperately needs the Lord. Will you fervently pray for his salvation!

The Lepage family had visitors from Rock Lake last weekend. Nate and Nancy Deshong took a few days vacation and headed North. The Church extension committee is seeking a pastor for Sault Ste. Marie. May God lead them in their continued search.

As I understand at this time, the retreat committee will not be hosting a Family Retreat this fall. Instead, they are bringing the pastors together to better understand the direction and needs that their people are experiencing so that the future retreats will be better focused and, more profoundly impact our people's lives.

Saundy and I are staying more closely tied to Rock Lake until an assistant pastor is secured. Thanks for understanding.

September marks the first quarter for our "Behold the Harvest" theme. Sis. Brenda Tiede will be co-ordinating some of the theme material. Let's give ourselves to the passion of the harvest.

"BEHOLD THE HARVEST"

Newsletter from the Blacks - July 24

We hope this letter finds you all well and happy. We try to remember to pray for you daily. Thank you for praying for us.

The rain has finally paused a little and the sun is shining through the clouds now and then. Typhoon Florita stalled over the Philippines dumping a lot of water and causing many landslides and massive flooding in places. Thank the Lord we were spared the worst of it in our area. We did experience some flooding in the nearby city of Urdaneta. The main highway into the city, at one place, was turned into a literal river which we had to drive through to get into town. The good news is that the campus did not flood as it has in the past.

The seven teens, along with Brad Hawn, who visited here recently, were such an encouragement! They came to us through the Touching Lives for Christ ministry out of Hobe Sound, Florida. Roanna loved having them here! They gave her hours and hours of great American fellowship. The Filipinos admired the team’s hard work in the hot summer sun. The TLC kids painted the front of our school building and

cleaned up some areas on the campus that desperately needed attention.

Thirteen of us traveled all around and gave out children’s books about Jesus, held children’s services and youth rallies. The team had skits, stories, songs, and games ready for each service. Those American young people were really affected by all they saw here and were especially touched by the needy children.

We went so far into the remote part of the country that one of the villages we visited wasn’t even named…it just had a number. It thrilled me to think that a small village, which the government didn’t find important enough to name, is full of people Jesus knows personally. Thanks Mark Potter and TLC for sending such a good team!

This new Academy school year is off to a good start. We have proudly framed and put on display in the office the permit from the government which allows us to now operate a high school! We have a nice group of upper grade students enrolled and Christina is enjoying teaching

them their Bible class.

We have included some pictures in this newsletter of our elementary school children showing off some of their new toys donated by Hobe Sound Christian Academy. Filipino children don’t have a room at home overflowing with toys, so these are pretty special to them! Thank you, American children, for selling some of your own so you could share with us!

David has spent hours helping organize the new modular program for this college year. The teachers and students are quite excited about it. The Lord has given Mrs. Castro, our college administrator, a physical touch. She is enjoying better health. Thank you for praying for her.

We recently went up to check on the Alibagu project and were again amazed by the professional level of the work that is taking place there. It is a beautiful facility! Thanks again to all who continue giving to this worthy endeavor!

Camp meeting and General Conference 2006 is over. It was a wonderful time of fellowship. There were hundreds of people all over the campus. They slept in the dorms, classrooms and even on the church floor!

We had between 86 and 122 kids in the six children’s services Christina conducted. One morning one of Christina’s child evangelism students was teaching about the cross and the death of Jesus. The children were so moved upon we had to stop and give them time to pray. The boys and girls sat on the floor in a cramped library room where it was 95 degrees or more. Those normally rowdy children were still and quiet everyday as they listened to the lessons taken from our general camp meeting theme: “The Beauty of Holiness”.

David preached a couple of times during the camp as did all the missionaries, but in one session they asked him to speak about family matters and the Lord helped in such a special way. The people really responded. We had a counseling session today and another one two days ago. Both sessions were follow-ups of that service. Please, pray for us. We need more wisdom than we have in the human. Some of our people are dealing with rebellious teens and child discipline issues in a country where most people do not discipline their children at all!

The general conference was one of the best in recent history. The business went smoothly and God had His hand upon all the proceedings. We give Him thanks for his blessings and direction.

After camp and conference, we missionaries along with John Parker and Deron Fourman made the hike up to “the top of the world” to a place called, Latbong. It took us over 7 hours to climb the mountain. When we reached the top we were joyfully greeted by Sister Alice and several of the church people. We held four services and had a church building dedication. Each service was marked by a special sense of God’s presence. The people were so responsive and open to the Word.

The children in Latbong really touched our hearts. They had very little clothing and were obviously hungry. However, it was thrilling to see the changes that the gospel has brought to that remote mountain village. Bro. Gale is the only other general missions’ secretary who has ever hiked there. I think they said he was 70 years old. David has his hat off to him! It took Bro. Gale three days because he hurt his ankle. It is a very tough hike. David has done several hikes, but said this was by far the most challenging.

Preparations are under way for a new school year in both the Academy and the College. Thanks to the generosity of the Findlay church new flooring is being put down in the main learning center. In the college, we are busy preparing curriculum and schedules for the new school year. We ask special prayer for our college. (It has been renamed a “college” again by the National leadership for legal reasons.)

It is such a privilege to help train our future pastors, teachers, Christian workers and leaders, but we need God’s help.

Pray for us as we work on the new modular curriculum and train the teachers to teach in a new style that is very different for them. The Academy and College will open in June. Please, keep these institutions in your thoughts and prayers.

On a more personal note, a business man heard about our family’s difficult separation, with Robert staying in the states to go to Bible College. He sent Robert enough money for a ticket for a short visit home before he starts quartet tour for HSBC this summer. We will pick him up in Manila on May 21^st. Please, pray for his safe trip. He will travel with Christina’s mother. It will be so very, very good to see both of them!

We appreciate your prayers, love offerings, share support and communication with us…more than just English words can express! So we will use a Tagalog word to help describe our feelings …

Conference President's Update for Apr. 1

Dear Update Readers,

Blessings to each of you as we approach the holy Easter season! May the victory of Christ be more real to you than ever before!

Bro. Johnson, Bro. Bailey, Bro. Bullock and I traveled to GBS on Tuesday to join the GBS bus group going to Bro. Agan's funeral. We left about 4 a.m. Wednesday morning and arrived in Pell City about an hour before the funeral. The Collingsworths shared in special music as well a one grand daughter and a whole group of grandchildren. Bro. Hedstrom, Bro. Leonard Sankey, Bro. Marc Sankey and Bro. Darell Stetler, Jr. spoke about Bro. Agan's life and ministry. Rev. Daniel Stetler brought the funeral message. Let me tell you, it was worth hearing! "Precious in the sight of God is the death of His saints!"

Memorials for Rev. V.O. Agan- If you are interested in responding to a memorial fund for Rev. V.O. Agan instead of purchasing flowers, you may give to Bible Methodist Missions to help cover the cost of flying Marc and Melody Sankey's family to the funeral from Texas. The tickets are going to exceed $2600.00. This will keep Marc Sankey from missing too many classes of language school. Gifts that exceed the amount of the tickets will be used for a special project in Mexico in memory of Rev. V.O. Agan. Rev. V.O. Agan was responsible for bringing the Mexico work into the Bible Methodist Connection of Churches.

On Monday morning, Saundy and I will be flying to Alaska to speak at the IHC there at North Pole. Please pray that God will make us a blessing to those we fellowship with and pray for God's anointing on my ministry. How much I need the Spirit's fresh infilling for effective ministry. As I have said, it is not so much what I have to say, but the keen working of the Spirit within me that is so important. Thank you for your prayers!

While I am in Alaska, Bro. Johnson will be available if you have questions. As well, he may be working with the Concord church family regarding a preacher for Easter Sunday. Bro. Miller's last Sunday there will be Palm Sunday and we covet your prayers for God's leadership in the pastoral search.

Also, the Lock-in for the Youth is planned for April 7th at Evart. Bro. Mark Potter, director of TLC, is to be speaking. Let's make this a very special time!

Some of our churches are planning an Easter egg hunt. Actually, Rock Lake is going to hide about 5000 eggs on the grounds. We have five bikes donated from businesses so far to give away. The eggs and bikes are not the issue! The story of Jesus is what's real and new contacts for the church is what this is all about. May God, Himself, pour out His blessing on the children who have never heard the message of Jesus!!!

Newsletter from the Blacks (March 27)

We left on January 21^st this year to return to a land of different sights, climate and language. Again we hear the honking horns, loud music, smell the roasting fish, and baking rice cakes mixed with the fumes of diesel. It is very good to be home!

For many of you this is your first newsletter from us. Thank you for giving us your addresses and for making your share support pledges to support us until we return to the states for the fall of 2008.

Somewhere in the midst of a busy life of ministry, unpacking our shipments and suitcases as they have arrived from their long boat journeys, and repairing our house, we have entered each of your names and information into our data base. It took all three of us using our spare time to get it done! We are now communicating with hundreds of more people and we are very thrilled to know that it means a lot more prayer support and we do need and appreciate that!

David has gone to the mountains to attend the graduation ceremony of Bro. Yucaddi’s son. It is a joy to be a part of the lives of these precious people.

Next Friday Christina will be giving the address for our own graduation here in the Academy. We have six beautiful children graduating from elementary level and anticipate holding our first high school graduation in March of 2008.

Last week an official from the government came to visit our school and was so impressed he is talking about giving us permission to operate all levels next year and we only asked for two years of high school at a time…. No doubt, through your prayers and ours God touched the hearts of those in authority who were threatening just days earlier (no doubt out of jealousy) to close us down.

Thank you for the faithful way you have supported this arm of the ministry here. Some of you have sent money to Bro. Monte for flooring for the school, for learning center toys and activities, special offerings for us and our teachers and more! We know you can not out give the Lord and He will bless you!

The Lord is also blessing our weekend ministries. The children and adult outstation (village) gatherings are growing and as our Filipino co-workers say “Becoming fruitful once

more”. We also are enjoying being in the churches with our brothers and sisters here and sharing the Word of God and pointing out God’s grace and love through music.

We spend some time in our home and offices too of course, in fact if you dropped in at the right time of day you might think all we ever do over here is wash dishes, cook, and do laundry. But eternal business happens inside these mission houses daily! We listen patiently to our neighbors as they communicate their hearts in faltering English and if we feel confident enough with the sentence we have chosen we answer in faltering Ilocano…just so they know that we care enough to try!

Conference President Schedule

I was privileged to share in the preaching responsibilities with Bro. Sankey during IHC. My heart was refreshed in the presence of the Lord.

Yesterday my family and I worshiped at Concord where I preached in the morning and evening. Saundy and I were entertained for the afternoon at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Tom Miller. We enjoyed the lovely meal and wonderful fellowship with their family. Pastor Tom is presently serving as the interim pastor at Concord.

This week the Joel Byer family will be staying with us for revival meetings at Rock Lake.

Please continue to lift my family and me to the Lord. May God grant us wisdom and insight that only comes from Him!

Bro. Parker is in South Africa and would greatly appreciate your prayer support. Also, here are lists of prayer needs from the Philippines and Mexico. Please share them with your church family.

From the Philippines:

We face some challenges much to big for us right now and would really appreciate being lifted before the throne of grace. I can't give details now, but here are some general needs:

1. An influencial pastor needs our prayers.

2. Pray for wisdom for the National leaders as we work through this. Pray for courage, the fear of God, mercy, and Godly love.

3. Pray for 3 pioneering churches. Pray for souls to be saved and completely established in their faith. Pray for their sanctification.

4. Pray for some big financial challenges concerning the National Conference/ Camp/ Training Center Project in Alibagu. Pray that the pledges will all come in.

5. Pray for your weak missionaries. Pray that we will place our whole confidence in a strong Savior. Pray for our steadfastness. Pray for our hearts to be filled with love in spite of the pressures of the journey.

6. Pray for our pastors and their families as well as our Institute and Academy teachers. Pray for their faith.

7. Pray for pastor Jimmy who just today hit a little five year old boy with his motorcycle. The boy is in surgery. And pray for the unsaved father of the boy.

8. Pray for our April campmeeting and General Conference and for John Parker and his team (including your husband) as they come to minister to us.

From Mexico:

Here are some prayer concerns for Bible Methodist Missions in Mexico:

A serious concern right now is the continuing physical condition of
Bro. Santiago Hernandez, pastor at Rio Bravo. He is still wheelchair- bound, in therapy and facing a mountain of medical expense. He and his wife have expressed that they are trusting the Lord for healing and their financial needs.

The financial needs of the Institute are also something that we
would especially request prayer for. God knows what we are facing but we know He will supply the needs.

Please pray for the families of Bro. Eli Balderas and Bro. Bernardo
Riviera - they have both recently experienced the death of a family member.

Pray for Marc as he continues his language studies - after 6 weeks
in language school, he's starting to know just how much he has to
learn! He is enjoying it, though and is doing well. I am working my
way through the Rosetta Stone program - making progress - still have a LONG way to go!

Thanks for passing on these requests - we are so thankful for the
prayers of God's people. So many times in the 3 and 1/2 months we've been here, we have felt those prayers lift us up and we've known someone was remembering to pray for us.

Missions Update from John Parker

Dear Bible Methodist Missions Supporters / Prayer Partners:

Marc Sankey our new missionary to Mexico shared with me yesterday that the funds for the operation of the Bible Institute in Mexico have been completely depleted. This is a result of the decline of Student Aid support which was approximately half of the funding for the Mexico Bible
Institute. For several years the support for this program has been
decreasing year by year and in keeping with our policy of not spending more than what comes in the Missions Board has directed our Missions Treasurer to only send what comes in. The amount coming in is not nearly sufficient for the needs there.

Please pray that God will touch the hearts of those who have given for the Student Aid program and perhaps even new supporters for the Mexico Bible Methodist Institute. Exciting developments are in the works for this vital part of the Mexico work! I look forward to sharing this wonderful news as soon as possible! It is critical that we keep those such as our dear Institute President (a former graduate of the Bible Institute) Rev. Eliazar Balderas and his family encouraged as we transition into an exciting new phase of the work!

Perhaps some church would want to sponsor a student at the Institute.
Contact Bro. Marc Sankey for information on the costs involved.

We need some who will "Stand in the Gap" with us during this time of need! Changes are being made that will remedy this problem in the future. Let's do our part in keeping the Institute going until the needs and challenges have been met.

I leave in a few hours for a 12 day trip to South Africa and a couple
Holiness Conventions as well as a visit to the other Bible Methodist
Missionaries that are laboring there in South Africa and Lesotho. I will appreciate your prayers!

Prayer and Praise

The Evart Missions Team is safely home after ministering in the Philippines. Thank you for your prayers.

Sis. Linda Kelley will be having hip surgery and she will appreciate our prayers.

Pastor Jon Watters will be returning to the military and will be pursuing Army Chaplaincy. Please pray for the Concord Church at this time of transition.

Rev. and Mrs. Bailey are expecting the arrival of another little Bailey this month. Please pray for Sis. Lisa.

Herb and Christen Woolworth (Concord) are the proud parents of baby Ella Mae.

The Rock Lake Church has expanded its sanctuary and now is being challenged to reach others to fill the new space.

Revenna Whispering Pines Worship Center (Sparta/Muskegon) has some new people attending and Bro. Jeff has started a discipleship class.

Wedding bells are ringing that will bless the Garfield Church with a new young couple. Steve Hough and Lynnette Troyer are planning an April wedding. Also, the Garfield lady that was in the truck accident has recently be able to return to church and bring the brand new baby. Praise the Lord.

Fifth Sunday Rally was a warm time of Christian fellowship. God helped Bro. Patrick Murray share from the Word.

Dr. Keaton seems to be making some improvements physically. He has resigned as General Chairman, making Daniel Stetler the from vice-chairman, our general leader as we finish out the last few months of this quadrenium. Dr. Keaton is serving a four month interim pastorship in Idaho.

March ---Bible Methodist Prayer Month

The Pray around the World Day is set for March 12 at 4 p.m. Please make plans to join Bible Methodists at home and abroad as we seek the face of God together.

Cedar Springs will be hosting IHC on March 13-15. Please note that the closing service is a Wednesday evening. Please consider lifting your prayer service to attend.

Conference President's Schedule

Saundy and I met with Bro. and Sis. Parker, and the other conference presidents and their wives in Kentucky where we worked to develop a mission's handbook and policy. We listened to Bro. Parker's goals and mission dreams. Each of us has brought home an assignment to work on as we develop our handbook.

While we were travelling we got word that Sis. Joann Hobbs had passed away. How our hearts ached for Bro. Mike and for Pastor Daniel who was in the Philippines.

Our visit with Bro. Scobie was cancelled for the Sunday after our missions meeting so we attended the Burlington church with Cherie and Titus for the day.

On Monday I spoke in chapel at GBS and then spent the afternoon in a General Conference subcommittee. How good it was to be with Bro. Chris Cravens, Bro. Hooker and Bro. Miles. My life is enriched by these great Bible Methodist men. In the evening we drove up to Dayton to attend the viewing and second funeral for Sis. Hobbs. We stayed with Sams that night and enjoyed their lovely hospitality and beautiful home.

Tuesday was the set day for Sis. Hobbs burial and we were honored to stand by the family during that traumatic time. They sang and praised the Lord and then the family wept in their own little huddle.

We got home to remodelling work that was in full swing at the Rock Lake Church. Some walls have been removed and this week the platform is being centered in the sanctuary as well as other cosmetic touches. Please pray that God will build His kingdom here.

Saturday is to be a work day at Jay and Amy Janofski's new girls home. God has lead them on a new venture and we are so excited to see what God is doing in their lives.

Sunday we are to be with the Greenville Bible Methodist Church family.

Report from the Keeps (Missionaries to the Philippines)

Dear friends and family,

Wow! Where has January gone! We’ve certainly been busy and Christmas is already a distant memory. This is Becky writing as I decided to help my husband and write this newsletter. He’s still recovering from his five day trek in the mountains with a team from Evart Michigan. They were thrilled and blessed to visit our churches in the remote villages of Atan (a church planted 5 yrs ago) and Polud (planted 4 yrs ago). We praise God for his protection for this team as they encountered much rain and multiple mudslides along the way. This necessitated even more hiking than what they’d anticipated, as the jeepney couldn’t get the slides. They were weary but excited to see and meet fellow believers in each of these places. Valerie and Timothy Jr. were along for the trip as well and really enjoyed it. They are becoming seasoned hikers now. We promised Jesse that in a year or two he can join also.

We are so excited to have David and Christina Black here with us again. They were warmly welcomed by our local church members here yesterday. Valerie and Roanna are busy catching up. We’re so thankful for our co-workers here in the Philippines.

We also just finished our January Shepherd’s conference. We were blessed to have Rev. Bennie Durr and Rev. Paul Bundy as our special speakers. Daniel Hobbs was here as well with the team from Evart but he returned home early due to the death of his mother. We had a great conference and the teaching/preaching of these men was a great blessing to all of us here.

As you can well imagine, my days and nights are consumed with children. We are so thankful for our family. We seem to have one child in every stage of life right now. Val is a great blessing to me in many ways. I believe that every newborn should come equipped with a teenage sister! And it’s great to see her growing and developing in her own spiritual life as well. She’s very involved with the church youth group and is still teaching the children. Tim jr. is 11 and growing into a young man. He enjoys traveling with Tim and playing his guitar. He tolerates school work but is doing very well. Jesse keeps life interesting and is now learning computer. It’s amazing the software they have for the blind now. Don’t be surprised if you’re online someday and Jesse IM’s you. Carolyn is our little stick of dynamite. She is a bundle of energy and fun. She is learning some Ilocano words and uses them a lot. It’s so funny to hear her speak it. She’s wide awake at 6am and winds down at about 8pm. My mornings are coming earlier and earlier now, as they must if I hope to have any quiet time to myself. Tim has declared to the world that the Lord has finally given us our “calm child” in Sammi Beth. I just hope he’s right! She’s only five months so the verdict is still out. She is a sweet bundle and we all adore her. She sleeps 11 hours every night and is contented most of the time.

Thank you all for your continued prayers. We depend on them. There’s not a moment that passes but what we realize that without the Father’s daily bestowments of grace we would be nothing, and neither could accomplish anything.

Thank you as well for the Christmas cards and gifts. We appreciate your love and support so much!

Report on Sis. Hobb's funeral from Leroy Adams

The funeral today was very lovely. A great crowd of people came out to the 10 am viewing, besides the enormous crowd that came on Friday evening. The honor for Joann Katherine Hobbs was very blessed.

At 10:45 a brass quartet consisting of Arlene Stence, two of her sons and Leroy Adams play a medley. Then, adding Esther Hobbs at the piano, the group played several songs of heaven and home. There was a lift in the music.

Host Pastor Earl gave a warm eulogy and prayed.

The Hobbs children sang, "Finally Home", a favorite of Joann's.

Cousin Daniel Finch spoke of Joann as a cousin, and the memories of the family reunion she hosted.

Esther and Danielle, a lovely violinist, played a beautiful arrangement of "The Firm Foundation."

Leroy Adams gave a eulogy about Joann as a sister.

Again, Nathan Hobbs led the congregation in singing, "When We All Get to Heaven," while Esther and Leroy Adams accompanied with piano and trumpet.

Daniel Hobbs gave a lovely eulogy about his mother.

Michael Hobbs' message on the Virtuous Woman of Proverbs 31, describing Joann's life.

Esther with brother Daniel and his wife Carol, sang "Land of Living" to close the 1-1/2 hour service. It was almost 2 pm. when the last friends, mostly from a 100 mile radius, passed for a final view of Joann Katherine Hobbs. Then we enjoyed a delicious hot meal prepared by the Gratz Evangelical Wesleyan Church. It was 4 pm before the family and friends finally dispersed.

We thank you for your prayers and support for the family in this time of loss. It made us more determined to take the whole family along to the Holy City. We want you to be there, too.

DAVIS - Pray for a safe journey for Sam and Nancy Davis as they make the 5-hour trip (they are traveling now - 11 A.M.) to the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonia, TX. Sam was to have an appointment January 26 but they moved it up so as to check on the reason why he is having much pain in his hands, especially the left one. Pray for God's touch on Sam and wisdom for the doctors.

Greetings in the Lord’s Name!

You have probably learned that Joann Hobbs, my sister, has been stricken with melanoma of the bone marrow. Thank you for your prayers in her behalf.

God has answered our prayers in His Sovereign way by taking her to be with Him about 2 AM. Tuesday morning, January 17, 2006. He has healed her completely and forever!

As a customary honor and closure to her life, funeral services will take place at the Assemblies of God Church in Coal Township on Route 225 east of Shamokin, PA.
There will be a viewing from 6-9 PM. on Friday evening, January 20, in the Assemblies of God Church, Coal Township, outside Shamokin, PA on Route 225.
On Saturday, January 21, there will be viewing from 10-11 AM. and the Funeral will
follow at 11 AM. in the same Assemblies of God Church in Coal Township, Route 225.

Interment will be in Vandalia, OH, near Dayton, OH.
Monday evening, January 23, there will be viewing 6-9 at the Dayton Evangelistic Church in Dayton with burial on Tuesday, January 24, in the Hobbs burial site,
Vandalia, OH.

A missions update from Melodie Sankey...

Dear Friends,
I wanted to write and let you know how my first birthday on the
mission field has been. I have had a good birthday although I hate
to admit it's 34 already! In
Spanish they would say "Estoy muy vieja" - I am very old! (I think
that's right) lol.......There's some other word for old but I can't
think of it right now.
We attended the service this morning in La Florida, one of the
border churches and then had dinner with the Luna Family in Soledad. They have been so gracious to us - inviting us for dinner every Sunday! Sis. Esther is a wonderful cook and they are really sweet people. I usually contribute dessert, drinks and ice so today I took my own birthday cake to Mexico..smiles...Bro. Homero had a nice laugh changing the candle numbers I had brought around to say 43! They sang "Feliz Cumpleanos" to me while I blew out my candles. I
received great gifts and cards in the mail and e-cards/phone calls
from family and friends; all in all, it has been a good birthday.
Tomorrow is Marc's big day - first day of language school! He's so
excited and I'm excited for him!

Dear Friends and Family,

As I write I am thinking about a time earlier this year in May. Half packed suitcases, Rubbermaid containers and boxes littered our entire house. We were preparing for Deputation 2005.

The previous four years in the Philippines had been a rich experience for our family. God had over and over again given us of His grace. He had taught us to love our work with Bible Methodist Missions.

Many of you followed our journey to the Philippines. We continue today as before to appreciate your love, concern, prayers, financial support and communications.

To bring you up to date we have the following news flashes:
1. We have put 29,000 miles on our Mission Helps van!

2. We have sung “Jesus Saves” more than 50 times since September!

3. We are finished traveling to our Bible Methodist churches. We will miss you!

4. Robert has adjusted to life in Hobe Sound, FL and says it is starting to feel like home. That makes us happy! Thank you to each of you who have sent him gifts.

5. Our Christmas tree is up in our Pell City house! We are so excited about spending time with our extended family during the holidays.

We have grown to love our Filipino life and can’t wait to return in January. It will be so good to eat “Halo, Halo” again. It is a dessert filled with many sweet, pickled fruits and vegetables. It is served over shaved ice and topped with ice cream.
We still don’t like all the smells of the Philippines but we can handle it better than at first. We continue to have no easy tolerance for the restroom situations…makes me shiver as I write!

And here we are again…boxes and containers and suitcases litter our house again. But we are taking back with us to the Philippines, along with our stuff, a lot of great memories from Deputation 2005!

Thanks for all the hugs, words of encouragement, offerings, pledges of share support, and promises to pray for us as we return to the field next month.

Urgent Prayer Request
Sis. Mike Hobbs is very, very ill. She has been given a lot of blood but she was so low this morning that the doctor feared she might go into cardiac arrest. Please lift Bro. and Sis. Hobbs in prayer.
Rev. Daniel Hobbs, his wife Carol and their five children are traveling from Evart tonight to be with his parents. If you get this yet this evening, please pray for safety for them on the highways.

Wonderful Preachers' Christmas Supper
Thirty-two gathered at "The Shack" for a lovely Christmas dinner and fellowship. The Shack is a beautiful, large bed and breakfast facility with lovely rooms, fireside fellowship rooms, conference room, game rooms, etc. Rev. Johnson organized the event and Rev. Sumner lead the worship time.

Conference President's Schedule
Saundy and I enjoyed ministering at the Vandercook Bible Methodist Church last Sunday. A fine congregation welcomed us and I was happy to share what God is doing in my heart -- capturing me with HOPE. He is the God of Hope! The Hillings were lovely hosts for the day. We returned home late in the evening, but happy to be a part of our ministers' lives and contented to share with their people.
Friday, Saundy and the boys and I headed for GBS for their Christmas program. What a thrill! And how do you stay seated when the choir is singing "All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name"? What a celebration it was. This year baby Jesus is Phil and Dorcas Bishop's little baby, Blake. So, I even got to see a little namesake. We got to visit with Melvin and Sandy Adams who had flown in for the service. Of course there were lots of others that we missed talking to in the crowd. We hurried back home today since the guys wanted to get the snow machines running and then were off to their S.S. class Christmas party at the Bailey's.
May the God of Hope and Peace fill your hearts with Christmas. Christmas is Emmanuel -- GOD WITH US!

A Sam Davis Update
If you have been following the story of Bro. Sam Davis' tragic burns and his recovery, you will be interested to read this. It was not so many days ago that they feared for his life and air-lifted him out of Mexico. He is a missionary of long standing and noteable record.

Dear Pray-ers,
An updated update!!

Nancy Davis called a short while ago with the incredible news that Brother Sam was discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon!! He is in the camper which is still on the hospital grounds (Army Base). He will receive further treatment on an outpatient basis. I am not sure how long they will be there.

The doctors at the Burn Center (one of the top in the nation) said they never saw a case where the burns were as bad as Brother Sam's and healed so quickly. Every skin graft "took" perfectly and continues to grow. We know that God has undertaken in a wonderful way. Nancy says the doctors recognize this as an unusual case. Again, to God be the Glory!!!!

Nancy wants to thank everyone who prayed and asks us to pray now especially for the emotional healing that Brother Sam needs after this traumatic (putting it mildly!)experience.

Nancy told me of several contacts that were made while in the hospital that might be one of the reasons God allowed this to happen - and the end is not yet! There is no question that God will continue to get glory and work for the salvation of souls through the witness this family have been to people who otherwise would never have come in contact with those who really know the Lord. Pray for all these contacts, and all the outreaching, ongoing effects of this whole situation.
How great is our God! How great is His Name and His greatness is unsearchable.

One more item:
Some have asked about the burns on Sister Nancy's legs. They are healing with the help of some medication. The largest is about four inches long and two inches wide. A small portion of this is third degree, the rest is second.

God's people have been wonderfully drawn together through this suffering of members of "The Body." May we all be strengthened in the bonds of love and faith, and thereby be prepared for whatever may lie ahead for any of us. The trying of our faith is much more precious to God than of gold that perisheth. ( See I Peter 1:7)

When Nancy has the full report written, we will hope to include a copy in the Rope-Holder - probably January.

Bro. & Sis Wickard I asked the Sankeys to travel up to San Antonio, TX on behalf of Bible Methodist Missions to express our concerns and love to Sam and Nancy Davis in this terrible time of suffering for him. Sam Davis and his wife Nancy have been missionaries to Mexico for many years. Sam was burned severely while working on a piece of equipment when some gasoline he was using ignited and caught him on fire. He had to be life-flighted out of Mexico to the burn center in San Antonio to spare his life and get the treatment he desperately needs. This cost them more than $12,000.00. Bible Methodist Missions is sending an offering to help with this great expense!

visit Sam and Nancy Davis at the Brook Army Medical Center. Though I have heard of Sam and Nancy Davis and in a round about way have some family connections, I had never met them. I was directed to his hospital room when I arrived and found a very gracious and kind reception there. I found out that Sam and Nancy Davis have been missionaries together in Mexico for 33 years and also found them to be precious and determined servants of the Lord.

The story is horrific and I will leave the details for them to share
with you when they believe it is fitting. Suffice it to say, Bro. Sam Davis is still with us because of the sovereign protection of a loving God. He suffered burns from his chest to his knees - most of them, Nancy told me, are 3rd degree burns. Praise welled up in my heart as Bro. Davis told me how he could not extinguish the flames by rolling on the ground or any other method and finally cried out to God in desperation to stop the flames and they immediately ceased. Someone just "happened" to stop by during this
whole ordeal and was able to direct them to the hospital. They shared with me some hair-raising stories about the emergency room/hospital there in Mexico.

Tomorrow (Thursday) he will be having the first of several skin grafts. I do not know exactly what time or how long this surgery will last but I know the Davises will appreciate your prayers tomorrow (12-1-05) especially as the healing process begins to take place. Bro. and Sis. Davis have already been through so much in recent days. Bro. Sam shared with me that in all of his life, even though he has experienced broken bones, car accidents, a plane crash, back surgeries, etc. the pain he endured with this incident was on a totally different scale from anything he has previously experienced.

Melodie and I shared a small financial gift and a get well card with
them. I am sure that anything that you send to them will be not only
greatly appreciated but desperately needed as the bills begin to mount. After having prayer with the Davises, I left the hospital room with new friends and renewed confidence in the healing power and miraculous grace of our Lord.

Conference President's Update for Nov. 22

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
I thank the Lord for His fresh work in my own heart. He has captured my being with hope in Him and the power of His presence. I find blessing in knowing that the God of the universe takes delight in me and the little details of my life.
Our family will all be home for a Thanksgiving meal and that will be a delight for us all!
I would like to start some special Thanksgiving traditions in the Jones home. If you have some, please share them with us.

Conference President's Schedule
I was privileged to speak in revival services at East Enterprise, Indiana, with Rev. and Mrs. Rex Albring. Leland and Roanna Lindahl sang in the services. God met us and I sensed His help in preaching.
I returned home to visit with Bro. and Sis. Black who were staying at our house. What a joy to be with them and Roanna. And I just want to express to them our appreciation for their work. On behalf of this conference, THANK YOU FOR SERVING BIBLE METHODISM IN THE PHILIPPINES.
Last Sunday, Saundy and I ministered at the Pine Grove Tabernacle near Remus. There are some dear people worshipping there and we felt that God blessed our day! The pastor's wife has served EBM in the past as well as Pineview Homes. She is not well physically and I wish that we could lift Karol Thompson to the Lord. She is scheduled for surgery this Friday.
The boys and I have enjoyed some deer hunting together. Kenny and I each got little bucks. Derek may outdo us yet!

Special Note
- GBS choir ministered at the Evart Church prior to the youth lock-in at Pineview Homes. I believe there were about 270 in that rally service that was marked by the glory of God's presence. Our young people began to respond in testimony. The service lasted for about three hours. Friends, God is mightily at work among us. And, of course, the enemy will be on the alert.
- Concord honored their veterans on the last day of their revival services with Rev. Troy Keaton. There were 107 present. The church has allowed the AA group to use their Family Life Center. One of the "AA" men came to service that day and gave his heart to the Lord.
- Sis. Carol Hobbs and Sis. Heidi Weatherald lead a Girls' Retreat in Big Rapids. They spoke about "Meeting the Gardener", "Weeding your Garden" and "Planting New Seeds". God helps to take us to new levels and, thus, expand our usefulness for Him. The young ladies were encouraged to take Jesus to the point of old hurts and let Him heal the wound. Then, and only then, are we free to live in His delight to the fullest of our potential.

MISSIONS NEWS

Dear Friends,

The Nehemiah Conference pastor's and I have just
returned from two days of work on the Alibagu National
Office Project. There were about 50 of us, counting
the pastor's from Jabez Conf. and the hired workers,
who worked in shifts carrying sand and gravel and
mixing cement for 29 hours straight. We're a little
sore but it's nothing that a few days in traction
won't cure!

There are many things to share with you regarding the
spiritual progress of the work here and our family,
but we'll send out a more complete update later. For
now I'm just sending along some shots of the project
for your prayers and encouragement. We really need
your constant financial support as well. Since we
started this project last year the prices on many of
the needed materials (especially steel bars and
concrete) have more than doubled! We are doing our
very best to manage this project well and to stay on
budget, but the prices of things are a huge challenge.
Thanks for your faithful support of the Philippine
Church. You are a great blessing to us!

We went to Rio Bravo yesterday morning. I played my guitar for some of the singing. I think that made a little connection with Santiago. The kids then went off to Sunday School and Bro. Eli taught/preached the Sunday School lesson in the church. He had prepared a statement in English that he read publicly to us, officially welcoming us to Mexico. It was very meaningful.
When the kids came back in from Sunday School the Mexican children sang Father Abraham in Spanish of course while our 3 boys sat on the front seat and observed. I kind of wondered why they weren't participating. Then when the mexican children were through the S.S. teacher had our 3 boys get up in front of the church and sing Father Abraham in English with all the motions. Right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot nod your head turn around. It was hilarious but it connected well with the people. They seemed to really enjoy our blond-headed boys singing.
Then Eli and Isela invited us to their house for lunch - a very delicious meal. Eli wasted no time making a connection with me. He said that he was glad that I was in Mexico and he said that he felt that it was very good that I was young, because the Mexico work needs new vision and passion, etc.. He seemed eager to get on board. He showed me alot of information about the Institute. We can talk more about this on the phone but all in all, we made a strong connection yesterday. We went to Victor's house for a few moments before going to Soledad for the evening service. In the middle of the service right before Bro. Homero preached he asked if we would sing a song. So on the spur of the moment, we did. I played my guitar while we sang "Have I Done My Best for Jesus?" in English of course. And then Homero gave the translation at the end of the song.
Eli was asking about the possibility of purchasing new software for the school computers in the amount of about $60. Are these kinds of matters involving similar amounts of funds at my discretion or do I need to run these types of things by you or someone else? We have $3500 in the missions account and over $1000 in the LABI account.
I'll probably call you later and we can talk more then.

Dear Friends of Bible Methodist Missions in Mexico,

I am writing this email to request special prayer for our pastor in Rio Bravo, MX: Bro. Santiago Hernandez.
He went to the doctor yesterday and the doctors are quite concerned about some physical problems that he has. He has been experiencing pain and numbness throughout his body and last night in the service we observed very plainly a degree of facial paralysis on the right side of his face; similar to the evidence of a stroke. Bro. Victor (a layman in the church) and I annointed Bro. Santiago and prayed for him during the service. Also there was an impromptu collection taken up from among the church people to help cover his medical expenses. He is scheduled for more tests - possibly an MRI - in the next few days. He is basically unable to carry on his duties as pastor and teacher in the Institute until the problem is cared for. Last night, one of the students preached for him and I am planning to preach for him on Sunday night.
Please help us pray for Bro. Santiago and his family. As you can imagine this is quite concerning to him, his wife, and 3 children. I know that God is able to touch him and to give the doctors wisdom as they care for him.

I just received word tonight from Bro. Homero Luna that Bro. Santiago Hernandez has been taken to the hospital in Reynosa, MX. His symptoms are worsening. The doctor has told the family that he will need to be in the hospital for at least 3-4 days to do more testing and try to find out what's wrong with him. This, of course, will incur potentially significant cost for this precious Bible Methodist pastor and family.

If God would lay it on your heart to give something monetarily in addition to your spiritual contribution of prayer, I'm sure that the family would be greatly appreciative. The Sankey's First Sunday in Mexico

Hello from a very warm Rio Grande Valley - I just saw 88 degrees while ago!
We want to send a few pictures of our first Sunday in Mexico and the market on Monday.
On Sunday morning we visited the Bible Methodist Church in Soledad where Homero Luna is the pastor. We enjoyed the Lord's presence as Bro. Luna preached and the people sang and testified. Our 2 younger boys enjoyed their first Spanish Sunday School class with a little interpreting from a friend. Bro. and Sis. Tomes said words of farewell and then introduced us as the new missionaries. After the service there were many expressions of "Bienvenidos" and "Dios le Bendiga" as the people shook our hands.
We enjoyed a wonderful Sunday dinner of chicken, rice, corn, tortillas, and more at the Luna's home. They are great hosts and we fellowshipped with them in the afternoon.
On Sunday evening we visited the Bible Methodist Church in Rio Bravo where Santiago Hernandez is the pastor. Again, the Tomes said words of farewell and introduction of our family. Marc preached the evening message with Bro. Tomes interpreting. And again, after the service there were many expressions of "Bienvenidos" (welcome) and "Dios le Bendiga" (God Bless You) as the people shook our hands and greeted us warmly.
After the service our boys enjoyed playing with the Mexican children - play needs no certain language!

PLEASE PRAY FOR SIS. MIKE HOBBS (Rev. Daniel Hobb's Mother)
Joann Hobbs has been diagnosed with multiple melanoma bone marrow cancer. At this point it is treatable, but not curable. She has had six blood transfusions so far. She has type O negative blood which is rare and finding enough blood can be a problem.

She can be treated on an outpatient basis and may go home today. She has had a bone scan to determine the exact status of the bone cancer so that treatment can proceed. She is very sleepy and extremely weak and says that her vision does not stay clear for long. She needs lots of prayer, but her spirits seem to be good.
The Hobbs need lots of prayer as Ada Hobbs, her mother-in-law, is also being treated for cancer in multiple places

The David Black Family -- Traveling Great Lakes Conference for the Next Two Weeks
The Blacks will be raising shares for their support as they return to the Philippines. Pray for their safety. And please pray for them as they adjust to Robert being away at Hobe Sound Bible College. It's a big adjustment!

A Sad note from Rev. Tim Keep
Here's the story:

Carol is one of our main church members (as well as the treasurer) in Banaue; one of David Yucaddi's converts. She is a beautiful Christian! Her husband died tragically last year when his jeep fell off a mountain, leaving her with seven mouths to feed and a very small income. She worked through that tragedywith faith and a strong Christian community. But life just tougher. Just a few weeks ago, after days and days of rain, a mudslide buried her entire home while she and her children slept. Carol was able to get out and to rescue five of her children, but two of her young daughters were buried alive! Rescuers were unable to get to them in time. One of them was a youth leader in Banaue church, and the other girl was quite young.

Though Carol has suffered greatly through this, she has she has also manifest sincere faith in her Lord and given a powerful testimony of His love and faithfulness. David Yucaddi just told us recently that all over Banaue people have marveled at the grace of God given to her during this time. Many came to comfort her, but they always left more comforted by her. Her confidence in God and commitment to Him is stronger than ever!

Now, in order to show the love of Christ to Carol and her family, the Banaue Bible Methodist Church is seeking to raise funds to build Carol and her family a new, simple home (the old one was completely destroyed). We are trying to raise about $3,000 and of course some of that has already been given. But if the Lord would give you the heart and means to help with this project it would be most appreciative. I'll be happy to send pics and info when the project is completed. A work crew in Banaue would like to get started by the middle of November as Carol and family are currently without a home of their own. Can you help? Conference President's Travels
My family and I enjoyed a very, very full weekend at Dawn Valley. I lead the annual fall meeting for the Ontario Interdenominational Holiness Association. In the meeting Rev. Joel Byer was elected to serve as the new President for this fine group. He has already been carrying the bigger part of the load for me. We had a wonderful day with the Dawn Valley people and shared in their Sunday afternoon prayer meeting as they sought God's moving during revival meetings with Rev. Harry Plank. We visited friends and family and were certainly blessed.
On of the families here at Rock Lake provided an overnight stay for Saundy and Me last week at "The Shack". It is a Bed & Breakfast & Bananna Split delight. That was one lovely pastor appreciation gift. And, it would be a great place to send your pastor. I have a bunch of brochures if I can help you.
Sunday was a surprise potluck at Rock Lake for the Baileys and my family. That was so much fun -- no planning, no preparation --- just go and enjoy!
Last night was our fifth Sunday Rally at Cedar Springs. Rev. Kim Hough spoke -- and what a message. God helped him preach and I heard very, very excellent responses to the content afterwards. THANK YOU BRO. HOUGH.
Tomorrow I will be heading for southern Indiana to be with Rex and Debbie Albring in a Tuesday throught Sunday meeting with them. Please pray for God's help and blessing.

Greetings Friends,

We are writing to you from the road as we travel through the Heartland (Ohio) Conference. Today is a warm day but they are predicting a cool weekend. Roanna is excited about the coming cold weather. We left the states four years ago on Nov. 7, 2001 and that was the last time we enjoyed the cool crisp weather of the fall season, so we are all looking forward to it.

Roanna is adjusting to doing her school work in the car and the Lord is helping us endure the long road trips. We have traveled over 20,000 miles since we arrived here in the US this past May.

You have been so thoughtful to help us as we have been traveling right in the middle of the worst fuel crises the US has seen in years. Thank you for caring for us and meeting our needs in such a wonderful way. It has been amazing to us how the Lord has supplied our needs and has kept us strong while traveling. We haven’t had to cancel a service yet, even though Roanna and Christina both have had to miss one service each because of sickness.

We have watched as one miracle after another has unfolded for us during this furlough time. In the month of August we faced a tremendous amount of expenses enrolling Robert at Hobe Sound Bible College. It was amazing to us how the Lord supplied every dollar that we needed right when we needed it. We were praying about a means of transportation for Robert because he would be working off campus to help pay his school bill, etc. The Lord worked another miracle and while we were filling in for Steve and Kay Vernon in Greensboro, Alabama a friend of theirs gave Robert a car! Even though it was an older model it provided what Robert needed for the moment. Isn’t God good!

Robert is enjoying his classes and life in the boy’s dorm. His Grandma Foley (Christina’s mother) fixed his room up so nicely before he arrived . She is enjoying having her grandson nearby. Please continue to pray for Robert as he prepares for his life of ministry.

Our fall rally services are going well. The share support pledges are coming in right on schedule. Many of you have given and partnered with us by taking a share and pledging to support us monthly. But for you who have not attended or will not be able to attend a rally service, we will share the following information for you to prayerfully consider.

As you know the mission has implemented a new Share Support Program. This program is designed to cover the cost of our monthly salary and living expenses while on the field for 3 years (we will no longer receive any salary through the assessment program or missions budget). The goal we need to reach is $75,000.00 which includes our monthly salary as well as the following needs and expenses:

Airfare (tickets) to fly to and from the Philippines - $6000.00 (aprox.)
Van Offering - $150.00 monthly (Paid to Mission Helps for the van we are using in our deputation travels)
Vehicle purchase when we return to the Philippines - $6000.00 to $7000.00 (for personal use).

If you are interested in supporting us monthly please send us your name and address and we will send you a share support coupon booklet. The coupon (payment) booklet is a simple tool to make it easy for you to remember your pledge every month. You can pledge $5, $10, $20, $50 or more a month by using these coupons.

Family Retreat ---- September 23-24
Bro. Daniel Hobbs will be sharing "My Passion for My Family" in the Friday evening rally. Afterwards will be a time of happy fellowship in the dining hall (Hillbilly Dress-up). Saturday will begin with family devotions (Sam Lindahl) and then family games. The closing challenge by Bro. Joel Byer will finish up the weekend.

Muskegon/Sparta
Saundy and I were privileged to share the last Sunday morning service in the Muskegon Bible Methodist Church. I endeavoured to remind the dear folk that our hope in not in a Place but a Person; not in Property but a Presence; not in a Program but the Power of Christ. There were 55 present in the service. It was a gracious time of worship and "hope for the future". Following lunch on the lawn, we went up the street to some neighbours for a baptismal service. Six individuals demostrated their faith in Jesus through baptism. Afterward, we visited the new property on Apple Avenue about midway between Sparta and Muskegon. A beautiful cape cod home on about 10 acres has been purchased for the new church with great highway frontage across from a lovely golf course. The home has a beautiful "great room" above the lower level garage. The congregation will be meeting in this windowed, cathedral ceilinged, bright room for their services until a new building is erected.

After visiting the new property, Saundy and I, Kenny and Derek, drove to Greenville for the closing revival service with Bro. Mark Cravens.
Tomorrow, we will go to Lansing to help Daron and Amber get a little better settled. Please pray for them as they make the adjustments to a new home, veterinary college, Amber's new job and community college classes.
By the way, Rock Lake is making plans for another day of prayer on Sunday, September 25. We will return to the sanctuary early in the afternoon for prayer and praise. This service will merge into the evening service.

We are grateful to report that the Alabama Bible Methodist Conference churches did not suffer any serious structural damage. In Mobil, Alabama a few shingles blew off the roofs, no electricity but no injuries or serious damage to the church structures and laymen's homes. We Praise the Lord for God's protection. I understand that Pastor Ray Cragun's church and parsonage in La. is ok as well. Just down the road a couple of miles homes were devastated. Our senior citizen community at Florala did not suffer any damage as well in the last storm. To God be the Glory!

Dear Prayer Partners of Bible Methodist Missions: - Aug. 31, 05

I am writing as I sit in the airport, catching my breath from the weekend trip with Missions Board Chairman, Rev. Walter Hedstrom to Mexico to share with the Mexican Nationals in a weekend celebration to honor the Tomes for their many years of faithful ministry. It was a special event with many tears and some laughter as the Bible Methodist people of Mexico said "Dios La Bendiga!" (God Bless You!) to the Tomes.

Just a few hours after arriving home and repacking the extra large
suitcases with all I could cram in them from all the people who want to send things with me to the Philippines, I am on the way on a ministry venture that is exciting and at the same time a bit overwhelming! I am meeting Melvin Adams, from our Great Lakes Conference and Co-Director of Barnabas Ministries, in the airport in Tokyo, Japan. We will then go to Phnom Phen, Cambodia through Bangkok, Thailand. We will be speaking for two 3 day Pastor's conferences there for Vietnamese pastors from the
persecuted, underground church in Viet Nam. The numbers wanting to attend necessitated breaking them into two groups. What an awesome opportunity this is to minister to such worthy brothers from the underground church. Please pray for us that we will be able to impart truth and edification to these dear laborers in the whitened harvestfields of Viet Nam that will send them home strengthened and better grounded in the Word and Work of God!

We will leave there on Sept. 9 with a Vietnamese Church leader
accompanying us for the Philippines. We will visit the new conference center project there on the first weekend and minister in Sunday services in Banaue, and then hurry back to the College campus for the September National Pastor's Conference to be held there Monday night through Thursday. This is a very important event. Please pray that God will use those of us who will be sharing the speaking responsibilities to challenge and strengthen the ministry and personal lives of our faithful pastors in the Philippines!

I am praying that God will call one of our Filipino Bible Methodist
pastors to Viet Nam as a missionary from the Philippines! This has been our desire and focus for some time! It would truly mark the maturity and growth of the Filipino work! The visit of the Vietnamese church leader from Barnabus Ministries to our Philippine National Pastor's Conference will be both beneficial to him and to his fellow laborers in Viet Nam as well as a challenge to their Southeast Asian brothers and sister church in the Philippines!

The day following the end of the Philippine Pastor's Conference our Field Director from the Philippines and I will travel to South Korea to meet with a Church Leader there that is a product of the training and ministry of Dr. Dale Yocum in S. Korea. He has heard of our thriving ministry in the Philippines and came to visit the work this past year. He is excited and anxious to connect his people to what God is doing in the Philippines. They would like to sponsor and support an inner-city church plant in the Philippines. We will be speaking in their churches and visiting with Church Leaders to share the wonderful way God is working in Southeast Asia through Bible Methodist Missions. Please Pray that God will use our ministry there to challenge and bless His church in South Korea also!

I will be returning on Sept. 20 after three weeks of ministry and travel in Southeast Asia. I ask for your prayer support over these next three weeks! Please pray with me also that God will supply the funds for the multitude of challenges and changes that we are responding to at this time! It seems at times that everywhere I look there are needs that are above and beyond the normal supply of funds! I know that you get weary of our incessant appeals! But it seems that God keeps us overwhelmed in our own strength and resources so that we remain totally dependant on His supply of Daily Bread! We need "Manna from Heaven" ! Our weaknesses and
limitations are only opportunities for Him to show Himself STRONG in our behalf!!! Please help us pray about these needs!

I am Depending on your Prayers! I will try to keep you posted over the next 3 busy weeks!

Bro. Roach's Passing

We just got word this afternoon that Bro. Roach's funeral was held this morning. He was a dear gentleman and has certainly suffered the last months. Last week, when we were in Indiana for Leigh Murray's wedding, I went to the nursing home to visit Bro. Roach. He had been transferred to the hospital so I went there to find him. He was very weak and, at first glance, I didn't even recognize him. He knew me and lifted a one sentence prayer to God to bless my family. I was honored to be with him so recently.

Report from Tim Keep...

Dear family, friends and faithful supporters,

Here she is!! All 7lbs and 15 ounces of her!
Samantha Elisabeth was born Tuesday the 16th at St.
Luke Hospital in Manila, and now we can truly say that
our quiver is full; seven (two plus five) is a perfect
number! Mom and baby are now home and doing great.

We are very grateful for the visit of my mother,
Grace. She has come to help keep our bodies and souls
together while Becky is resting! Her visit is a huge
blessing and encouragement to all of us! Grandma is
an engaging storyteller and her grandchildren are very
engaged "storytellees"! She makes good cookies, apple
pies, and pepperoni rolls as well, I might add!

On a sad note, "Buddy" (our faithful Golden
Retriever) died a couple of weeks ago. We still don't
know what motivated one of our neighbors to give him
rat poison, but we are quite sure that's what
happened. The boys and their friend Stephen buried
him in the back yard with a cross and his dog bowl as
a grave marker! I told them I wasn't sure that Jesus
died for Buddy, but I'm sure He knew that he was a
good dog!

On the ministry front, we have plenty to be
encouraged about. The Shepherd's Institute (formerly
PBM College) is going well as we have been
experiencing some powerful moves of the Lord on our
campus. The last six weeks have been unusual times of
spiritual revival and it has changed the whole
atmosphere around here! We believe that Madam Castro,
our new school administrator, and this student body
have been handpicked by the Lord. Please keep praying
for them!

There is also some progress on the church planting
front. One new congregation is ready to build, and
two of our tested church planters are currently
scouting for new unreached areas. Please pray that
the Lord will bless them and guide them to towns or
villages of His choosing.

Our Conference Center building project in Illagan
Isabela is well underway. The surrounding walls are
up, the well is dug and a second one is halfway
completed, the road is poured, the twelve foot front
gate as well as the smaller pedestrian gate has been
hung, the foundation for the national home and office
and dormitory is complete, and the beams are being
formed. Thanks for your prayers for David Yucaddi,
Leo Dirilo, Manuel Balido, and myself as we direct
this project. We desire that this facility will be
used for the glory of God alone.

Now, I rarely talk about financial needs in this
news letter, but I feel that I should at least make
you aware of a need and hope for your prayerful
consideration. Many of you have sent funds in past
years and even in the past few months ear-marked as
rice for pastors and as soon as I have gotten these
funds I have distributed where the needs are most
urgent. (As I have said before $20 will provide enough
rice for a pastor's family for one month) But we are
currently in the second month of a country wide crisis
period in the Philippines and our rice barrel is
empty! My heart goes out to some of my brethren here,
especially those in the mountainous regions, who are
suffering some great hardships. Would you please pray
about giving to the Pastor's Benevolence Fund or
Pastor's Rice Fund, and help relieve the burden of
your brothers and sisters during this crisis time?
The Lord will reward you!

On September 12-16 John Parker, Melvin Adams, and
Rick Hutchison will be helping us in our annual
September Shepherd's Conference. Please pray for them
and all who will be speaking during this most
important spiritual event. Our theme is: A Church
Beautified by Holiness.

I'll cut this off for now, but I do want to tell
you once again that our hearts are constantly full of
thanksgiving for your faithful prayers and financial
support. Thanks for being mindful and attentive of
our ministry needs even when your own lives are so
full of challenges and so many needs are clamoring for
your attention.

Filipino Leader's wife Dies after Heart Surgery

What a shock! Let's not question our Soveriegn God and please lift Bro. Dirilo in prayer meeting tonight!

Dear Bible Methodist Prayer Partners and Supporters:

My heart is so heavy after receiving a phone call from Bro. Keep tonight informing me that Sis. Rufina Dirilo died this morning (Wednesday morning Philippine time) from what seems to have been a blood clot to the lung. She seemed to be doing well enough that the Keeps had returned to campus to be with their children. They are enroute back to Manila to be with Bro. Rojilio Dirilo and family members who are there at the hospital.

Rufina leaves a clear testimony of victory and grace! She has fought so hard to survive and been gracious to the end. We have been so hopeful and prayerful that she would be restored to health. Many of you gave generously to provide the more than $12,000.00 to pay for her heart surgery. Many prayers have gone up for her. As I participated in the commissioning of her husband as the Central Conference President in May, I felt so impressed to lay my hands on her for healing. It seemed that the presence of God settled down in a sweet and reassuring way as we pled for her healing. She HAS been healed! Not in the way we asked for, but in the best way possible! There is no sting in her death nor victory in the grave for her! Her victory is in the overcoming grace of God, through Jesus Christ her Lord!

Rufina has been claiming and quoting the verse recently from the writings of the Apostle Paul as her testimony...... "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain!" (Php. 1:21) This morning she has gained the ultimate prize for the Christian! She has seen Jesus, her Lord, face to face! She has heard Him say..... "Welcome home, Good and Faithful Servant! Enter into the joys of thy Lord!"

Please pray for the Keeps! This is such a heart break for them! They will need grace and strength to minister to the Dirilos. Pray for dear Brother Rojilio (pronounced "Ro-hilio"). They have no children, so he will be left alone!

Thank you for sharing in this compassionate ministry. May the Lord reward those who have invested prayers and finances in this dear little saint's life!

Conference & Camp Meeting this Week!

Dear Update Readers,

Our crew is back from a family camping vacation with lots of camp fires, hot dogs, smores, misquitoes, and happy togetherness. We hiked, built a little bath-house, cut wood, floated in the Muskegon River, sang around the fire, listened to some preaching tapes, heard reports from the TLC trip to Alaska, and played with the wee grand baby. Fun? Yep! Daron and Amber shared the weekends with us, Seth and Heidi the middle of the week and Titus Byer joined in the fun for most of the time. Kenny and Derek had just returned from Alaska so we were all very happy to be together!

Today, our guys are to plant shrubs along the front of the dining hall. Bro. Albring has hauled the old red and white mobile home off the camp ground and we are very appreciative of his help. It took a lot of work to prepare it for him to move. The "new-to-us" parts of the sound system are hear and Bro. Sumner and Bro. Dave Witten have been working here today. Joe LaVoy has painted some of the Cobblestone and Bro. Johnson has helped put up lattice on the front porch. Thanks to lots of others who have come for their camp work assignment!

Now, we are looking forward to seeing all of you!

Hi Bro.Parker,

Hello, This Is Becky here. Tim is still in Isabella
with the Team. I drove home last night over the
mountains with the kids. They have school today.

The medical mission was a smashing success. We treated
1266 people in three days. It was grueling and hard
but so much fun and so rewarding. We started here on
Campus on wed and along with 9 doctors from Manila we
treated over 400 in 5 hours. We were up and gone by
6am the next and traveled to Balaaban. We hiked in
there and that afternoon treated another 350. We left
there at 7am on Fri. and traveled to Umilog where we
hiked in and treated over 500. We had a Dentist a
surgeon two adult doctors, and four pediatricians. All
the nurses had tons to do and we even had to teach
some of the non- nurses on the team how to take B/p's
and give shots. Tim assisted the surgeon in removing
cysts and doing circumcisions. I took pictures knowing
that no one would ever believe it.AFter treatment we
had a prayer room where we had people to pray with the
patients about any needs that they had.

The team will be doing two more "nursing clinics" as
the docs had to go back to Manila. They'll be giving
out vitamins and de-worming medicines, taking b/p's
and treating minor illnesses and infections.

This was such an awesome experience and so needed!!! I
hope that we can do it every year.

I know that Tim will want to update you when he
returns.

Please pray for the team.I know that they are
exhausted!

Rev. Sams mother passes away; Bro. Tomes update

Rev. Clair Sam's mother passed away on Monday evening while her family was gathered around her. The funeral is Friday. Please pray for Bro. Sam's, his father and each of the family.

Death in Oaxaca

I received a phone call just this morning with the sad news that Bro. Antelmo, pastor of the Bible Methodist Church in Bugambilias, Oaxaca, MX. lost his life yesterday, Monday 6, 2005, when his big truck overturned in the mountains of Southern Mexico. He died at the scene of the accident and another young man from our church is in a coma and they don't give him much hope.

We would like to ask for the prayers of the Bible Methodist family for Bro. Antelmo's wife and several children.

Conference President Report

I was privileged to share a weekend meeting at Muskegon earlier in May. Do you remember Joe who came to camp a few years ago? He was a brand new convert then. I wish you could have heard him pray and watch him as he welcomed folks to church. Wow! God is establishing His people at Muskegon. I was able to stop and get some pictures of the property that the Muskegon/Sparta Church family is hoping to purchase. It is located on Apple Ave, (Hwy 46) near Revenna and across from a lovely golf course. It has 10 acres and a beautiful Cape Cod style house. The house has a meeting room that can be used until a church building is built.

The conference pastors met at the camp grounds for a Love and Respect DVD series. The presentation was very informative and soundly biblical in it approach to Christian marriages. We enjoyed a special time of fellowship and learning. And, we are blessed with lots of little parsonage children. WHAT A BLESSING!

Carl Imhoff preached a youth revival for us here at Rock Lake on the second weekend of May. He preached a series of messages on Christian love. It was so good to have his family here -- and, of course, some of his relatives blessed us with their attendance.

Our family traveled to GBS for Seth's graduation. We have gotten to know so many young people there and we delight in "parenting" them while we are on the Hilltop! Saturday evening was a special tribute to Dr. Avery for his ten years of service as president. That was one impressive meeting! Sunday we drove to Bro. Faulkner's in Stanton, Kentucky, and preached in the morning service. His people are so warm and expressive. Why don't we all pay them a visit sometime. We'll just flood them with Northerners and smoother them with Yankee love! We were back at GBS for the closing service of their camp meeting.

We stayed in Cincinnati until Tuesday to attend an insurance luncheon where the possibility of forming an umbrella insurance group for church buildings and liability was discussed with Global One. Then the long trip back home later Tuesday afternoon --but now bringing Cherie home for the summer.

Last Sunday evening was our 5th Sunday Rally and was held here at the camp tabernacle. A lot of work went into preparing the building for guests after the winter. But, it was a wonderful time! Even with many people away for the long weekend, we had a great crowd. Rev. Adrian Rosa spoke to us about the mystery of Godliness and how we "speak" that mystery to a watching world. Thank you for your message Bro. Rosa.

Our family was all home for Memorial Day. That was fun. We played games and ate and napped. I was not able to attend my Grandma Unsworth's 106th birthday party last weekend and I missed that special day.

In two days Kenny and Derek will leave for "Touching Lives for Christ" (TLC) bootcamp in Florida. From there they will fly to Alaska. The first week of ministry will be a VBS near Fairbanks/North Pole. The second week is to be home ministry, testimonies, singing and visiting in a village inside the Arctic Circle. Matt Johnson is arranging the details on the Alaska end. Bro. and Sis. Brian Bailey (assistant pastor here at Rock Lake) are leading the Alaska Team. They will be traveling by van to Florida and taking seven young people and their two little girls. Please pray for all of them -- for safety, for wisdom, for shining spirits, for radiant faces, for spiritual blessing and for, perhaps, a personal call to ministry!

And camp meeting is just around the corner. Please, please pray for the workers and for God's mighty moving among us!

Dear Friends,

Hello from the Philippines! I trust this letter finds you all doing well and enjoying the beginning of spring.

I am writing this letter to make you aware of an urgent need of one of our dear pastors wives. Many of you are aware of the serious heart condition of Sis. Rufina Dirilo. She is only 30 years old and desperately in need of a mitral valve replacement. While we have known about this for sometime, Rufina has been managed nicely with medications and has been treated by a very good cardiologist in Manila.

Because this operation is extremely costly (somewhere between $10 and $12,000) and the mission medical fund is quite limited, Rufina was informed about a program through social services here in the Philippines that would pay for nearly half of the cost. She has spent the past 10 months filling out mountains of paperwork, standing in countless lines for hours at a time and making many, many trips to Manila to meet all the requirements in order to avail herself of this help. We were so thrilled when she was approved and placed on a waiting list where she was number 7 in line for surgery. While we were home this past year, and through some recent church contributions, we have been able to raise the other half (around $6000). (We praise God for the love and generosity of God’s people!) Rufina’s surgery was scheduled for Jan. 28, 2005. Shortly before this scheduled date she was informed that there was a more urgent patient than she and was bumped from her place on the list. They have rescheduled her surgery countless times only to call and cancel it the week before. This has been the story for the past 4 months.

Sadly, Rufina’s condition is deteriorating rapidly. She is losing weight and is unable to do her cooking, laundry or cleaning. She spends much of her time sleeping. Her doctor is adamant that she needs to have the surgery immediately. Just this week however, the social services have admitted that they have no money with which to help her. We of course know that corruption is the cause. Those who have money to pay in full are being put first. We now believe that without the funds to pay for the whole cost of the surgery, Rufina will be unable to have the surgery. We have decided to make an appeal to you, to raise the remaining funds for this surgery.

Rufina has placed her life and future in the hands of God. She understands even in her fear and frustration, that it isn’t ultimately those who are corrupt who control her destiny, it is the Lord. As she sat in our living room today, and as we prayed together, I was reminded of the scripture in Psalms 22:24, “He does not neglect the poor or ignore their suffering: he does not turn away from them but answers when they call for help.”

Our appeal to you is for two specific things: 1) That the Lord’s will be done and that if it would glorify Him that He would soften the hearts of the hospital Social Service Administrators to schedule Rufina’s surgery right away, and 2) That if this isn’t the Lord’s way of working that He would provide ALL the necessary funds ($6,000.00 more) for private pay. If the Lord touches your heart we need you to respond right away!

....We had a great Easter Sunday ... 101 in attendance - 1 to the altar. On
Palm Sunday we had three praying at the altar. God has given me several
new people that I am working alot with recently.

Praise the Lord for what is going on in Vandercook!

God has blessed us here at Rock Lake with a very special ministry of the Spirit through Bro. Don Davison. The pastor himself could not have spoken more on target for the congregation and their needs. Isn't the Spirit's leadership awesome? I am absolutely amazed! This morning the sanctuary stinks of old stale cigarette smoke. It must be from the clothes of some new folks that were there yesterday. Thank God for the stink! Give us more, Lord, give us more! God is working on a true revival level -- changing homes, relationships and lives. Wow.

You might be interested in having Bro. Davison for revival meeting at your church!

Saundy and I will be away for a couple of nights of R & R and will return on Wednesday. I am to be in Dawn Valley for this weekend and then to IHC for next week. Let's pray for God's blessings on the services there. Missions Boards will be held on Friday after IHC at God's Bible School.

Mission Update from John Parker

Dear Bible Methodist Missions Prayer Partners and Supporters:

Exciting things are happening in Bible Methodist Missions! As I just reported after returning from South Africa, God is truly moving among hungry hearts there! Satan is fighting desperately to keep the people depressed, divided, and defeated, but God is at work! Please pray that the Holy Spirit will turn the hearts of the people to love God with all their hearts and one another with Divine Love! This will truly bring the Revival we need in South Africa!

It seems that God has refreshed the hearts and ministry of Edwin and Rita Tomes in this time of transition. I was privileged to witness the outpouring of love and honor on dear Bro. Tomes as I traveled throughout the work there recently. Many faithful years of labor have been invested in these dear people and it seems that they have taken the Tomes for granted. Now that they are transitioning into something else, the people have realized just how blessed they have been! This has been good for the Tomes and for the nationals in Mexico! I am so thankful for the expressions of Love and Support for the Tomes there. Remember that we will be honoring the Tomes in a Special Celebration of their many years of faithful service to Bible Methodist Missions in our Missions Day services in each of our Camp Meetings this summer. Plan to make a special card or poster to honor them and bring it to camp meeting! We will be handing out a Thank You card and Envelope in the service for a Love Offering for the Tomes.

I visited a beautiful little village in Oaxaca state where a congregation of Bible Methodists worship named Las Palmas. This little group have totally outgrown their little crude church building and need to rebuild. They have been giving and saving to build. They had the sand and gravel there to begin pouring the concrete. If any church would feel moved of the Lord to help build this little church it would be a great blessing. They need about $2,500.00 to make up the difference in what they can raise and what it will take. This is a VERY poor area of Mexico! Maybe God would speak to someone or to a church to make it possible for the village of Las Palmas to have a new church.

One of our dear faithful Mexican Bible Methodist National Pastors, Bro. Seferino is dying with Cancer. He is the grandfather of our Bible Institute President, Rev. Elias Balderas. This dear pastor needs our prayers and his family as well as he suffers. If any would like to send a card and a little love offering to help them with the medical expenses, you may send it to the Tomes. Please pray for this dear family!

As always, the work in the Philippines is blazing ahead! Revival fires are still burning in spite of the Devil's attacks on our leadership, on our Missionaries and on the work itself. Continue to pray for Becky Keep's health! My last information is that she was doing better. We need to hold her up before God for His touch on her and her pregnancy, and for a healthy baby!

There are three exciting things on the horizon for the work in the Philippines!

#1) - Work on the new National Conference Center has begun in Illagan! Please remember and remind others to Pray and faithfully give as they have pledged and feel God would impress them to for this project. We are dependant on God's help and your support!

#2) - A team will leave on April 23 for the Philippines to travel to each of the 4 Conferences and hold 2 day Camp Meetings there. Pastor Doug Eads from the Ada Chapel Bible Methodist Church in Alabama, Youth Pastor Travis Johnson from Frankfort, IN and myself will make up the team. It should be an exciting trip! We will be hiking into some of the new areas for some of these services. There are many needs! There is also a need for finances to help with food, travel and the expenses involved in each of these camp meetings. Bro. Keep has written to ask if any would be willing to give an offering for the expenses of the Camp Meetings. Bro. Brugger set a great precedent when he purchased pigs to feed the crowds. We would like to do that again! Here is a breakdown of the needed funds for the Camp Meetings...

#3) - A medical Missions team from God's Bible School is going to the Philippines this summer. There is a possibility that a Christian Filipino Dr. and Dentist will accompany them to minister to the physical needs of the Ifagau people in the mountains. There are so many needs there as you will read below in the comment of the Dr. . To make this trip a success, medicines, injections, and finances are needed. A highly trained nurse is offering to go with the team (a graduate of GBS who has just moved to Alabama) if she can raise the funds. I am including the list of Meds and comments of the Filipino Dr. below and asking that if any have contacts which would enable the team to take the meds listed with them to contact me. Also, if any could give to enable the nurse to go on this team it would be appreciated. This is an exciting and wonderful opportunity! I trust we will be able to see it be successful!

Dear Sir,
Wow! I am thankful for the request to share about Resurrection weekend. Our congregation was blessed to be engaged in the Celebration in one way or the other over the whole weekend.

Sunday morning was a special time of real celebration. It seemed that the singing could have lasted for a long time. We were really blessed with a special grace for worship. Sunday morning was also when we did our dedication for Ashley Bishop (our TLC summer missionary). After the singing and offering, Ashley shared what God has given to her as an opportunity and desire. The Emery Boys sang, "I was the Reason", and then I had the privilege of speaking to a very full house about the reasons for remembering the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. After the message the Teen class then gathered around Ashley laid hands on her and prayed for God's blessing. It was a beautiful time. I've come to realize that I love preaching to full front rows!

Sunday afternoon we were priveleged to have a church carry-in dinner at Pine View's gym and what a time of fellowship and interaction it was. It was wonderful to see the interaction between believer's and their interaction with the unbelievers that were there.

By 3 o'clock we were back at the church for a beautifully done cantata entitled - "Behold the Lamb". Our church choir was led by a very capable, Spirit-led, senior brother who has had ongoing contact with our congregation over the years. It was a beautiful presentation which also concluded our formal times of worship for the day (ie., no evening service). The remainder of the day was spent enjoying the beauty of the day God had given to us. Resurrection Sunday is my favorite.

Rock Lake Easter Report

Update readers,

It dawned on me that I had asked for church Easter reports but didn't give our own. So, here goes...

In the Sunday School, the superintendent (Daron J.) shared the story of Jeremy and the empty egg. His heart was touched and melted as he expressed the new meaning the empty tomb brought to him. Daron has been accepted at veterinary college in Lansing, so we are going to miss Daron and Amber when they move to be closer to the school.

Easter Sundays offer varying challenges -- especially if a number of the people travel to be with their extended families. We were somewhere in the middle of that kind of a scenario, but we had a wonderful day! Pastor Bailey preached on the meaning of Easter -- Faith, Freedom, Power, Peace, and Hope. He did really well. I spoke in the evening service about the Covenant Sacrifice, Covenant Blood and the Covenant Meal. I tried to explaint these, first with the OT Covenant and then with the New Covenant. The celebration of communion is our covenant meal with the God who said that He would be our God and we would be His people. We finished the service sharing communion among the lilies. The white lilies, the white communion cloth, the white burning candles were bright with the reminder of pure hope and the offer of purity. God is at work among us in establishing and settling grace. A group of the young people are setting at the front and that always sets a special tone in a church.

Tomorrow some of our men are taking trucks and trailers to Belding to pick up mattresses, and other camp items that are being given to us.

Next week, Thursday April 7- Sunday, April 10, the Davison Family will be with us for a Spring Revival. Bro. Don Davison will be preaching and his family singing. Hey, come and join us!!!!

Fellow Pastors and Friends,

Easter Sunday was a wonderful occasion here at Garfield Country Church. We had 49 people with 15-16 of those being visitors. The church was quite full and I rejoiced to see so many new faces in the crowd.

God has been leading Heidi and I in miraculous ways to some people in our area. Just last week we out riding around the countryside. We noticed a "House for Sale" sign on one of the side dirt roads. We decided to see where the house was located. Well, we ended up driving for a long time until we reached the driveway that went up and back into the woods. I wasn't sure my old car would make it, but we finally did and found a nice house perched on a hill back in the trees. When Heidi met the lady that owned the house she was shocked that we were from that "church on Sharon Rd." She said that she and her husband had thought about coming to our church, but they weren't sure that a little country church would welcome them. And then we showed up at their door. It was certainly a miracle. We would never have found them if God would not have led us to explore down that road to find that house for sale.

Both the lady and her husband were in church Easter Sunday. God surely "works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform!" Praise the Lord! Pray for us as we continue to work with this couple and the other visitors that came.

How to Pray for Great Lakes:

1 Pray for Rev. Blake Jones and Rev. Dennis Johnson, conference leaders.

"To serve this present age, our calling to fulfill. Oh, may it all our powers engage to do our Master's will."

2 Pray for the pastors of our churches.

Each pastor, with the exception of Rev. Johnson, has children living at home. Nearly all the pastors have young children. Please pray that God will enable the parsonage children to personally "own" their family ministry and develop a strong outreach mentality. Also, pray that God will bless each parsonage family with grace until their holy and happy "family image" becomes a part of the presentation of the Gospel to their church and community. Pray that God will bless and strengthen the marriages of our pastors and their faithful wives.

3 Pray for the grace and strength to face intensified spiritual battles.

As God works among us, of course the enemy goes on high alert and doubles his forces. But were are more than overcomers through Christ! Our pastors need wisdom to counsel and strength to lead!

4 Pray for the Church Extension Committee as they seek a pastor for a new work in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

The Lepage family is desparately calling for assistance as they endeavor to plant a new work in Ontario. Pray that God will lead us to the right family to step into this wonderful and open field.

As we seek to maximize this opportunity, may God add His blessing.

Thank You for your prayer and financial support of Bible Methodist
Missions. Without you, we would be able to do nothing! Our
Missionaries, our Native Pastors, Teachers, Leaders and Church Planting
ministries would come to a halt without your prayers and finances. God
uses you to enable us to carry on in the great Whitened Harvest Fields!
THANK YOU!

I have just returned from visiting the work in South Africa. I went on
this trip sensing that we are at a critical crossroads in the work there.
I physically and emotionally battled Satan as I sat in the Airport in
Atlanta and on the planes going over to South Africa. Satan seems to be
having his way with this country. Evil is in full frontal assault on the
people, both black and white of the land. Tribal religions are again
being practiced, American immorality is our #1 export to them through our
wicked Movie and Music Industry. Multi Million Dollar Casinos are rising
in the midst of squalor and poverty to lure the people into the horrible
addictions and crime of the underworld of Gambling. The sex trades are
flourishing and Crime is totally out of control. To add to the
complexity, a people who are desperately looking for answers are being
swept up into the "Prosperity Gospel" of the Religious Super Stars of
the world to just "Think Positively, Claim Your Blessings, and Be
Happy!" Multiplied thousands are packing churches and stadiums to hear
the message of those who totally bypass the cross and assure the seekers
that they can go on living just as they live and enjoy the immunity of
Grace! Many are accepting the way of the "False Christs" who promise
Grace without the Cross! It is unquestionably the most depressing and
oppressing of situations. Many are giving up in despair on God,
Marriages, the Church and even their self-respect! Tensions are high in
relationships! Satan is sowing division and dissension within the
church!

I sent out a couple SOS's as I prepared to fly to South Africa for
special prayer. I know that many of you were praying for me! The Holy
Spirit, the Comforter, came alongside and made the difference.

Upon arriving in South Africa, I fulfilled a promise to our dear Bible
Methodist fellow missionary and friend, Pieter Marias and his dear wife
Hester and traveled down to visit the ministry they are leading for
H.I.M. in and near Lesotho. My driver and companion for this trip was
South African businessman and brother, Jacques Lucas, many of you met
when he came over for a visit in 2003. We were so blessed by what God is
doing in Lesotho. The services we shared in, the visits to the
churches, schools, clinic and villages truly challenged us. To hear the
dear Lesotho people sing and testify, and to share in the labor of love
the Marias and their co-laborers Philip Guise and the Gaults are doing
was truly inspiring. To hug and hold a group of little AIDS orphans in a
village and share in a ministry of love to them from the church there
moved me! We shared our desire to work alongside them in any way possible
in this great harvest field. Pray that God will enable us to be a
blessing to each other there.

As we traveled back to Middelburg, I shared with Jacques my increasing
conviction that God would order every step of our lives and every detail
if only we would desire it and be sensitive to His leadership. Without
sharing a lot of details, let me say that we discovered on that day in
several situations which could have only been of Divine providence, that
God is interested in ordering our lives to achieve maximum blessing to
our world. What a blessed day it was!

The remainder of the week was spent with the Pretorius family and the
Bible Methodist Ministry in Middelburg, SA. Home Bible studies, with
rooms crowded full of eager and hungry seekers for truth took a couple
evenings. There is always plenty of hot tea (with milk) accompanied by
the traditional Milk Tart (milk custard) and Scones (biscuits with
fillings) and other goodies..... and wonderful, warm, and gracious
fellowship. The Afrikaans people are wonderful. They've come through
such hardships and pain. They live in a terrifying world. Their hearts
are open to the message of holiness.

Sarel, Samuel and I accompanied a dear black pastor to a city about 20
miles away where he is planting a church in a very large "squatter (the
recent immigrants to South Africa from other neighboring African
countries who have nothing.... and settle in a place in "tin shacks")
Township" near Witbank, South Africa. I must say it was very unnerving
to me to travel after dark into an area that is known to be so hostile to
whites and feel that you were the only white people there. Again, I
believe that somewhere here at home someone was praying for us. The Holy
Spirit overshadowed us. The church was only a crude tent-like
arrangement against a tin house..... very small, and very crowded with
people who were dressed in their Sunday best for the visit of the
American. It was truly an honor to worship with them, though I am not
accustomed to the way they worship.... (VERY loud..... and Lively.....
and very LONG!) I preached a simple gospel message and then was asked to
pray for the people. They lined up and one by one came to be prayed for,
patiently waiting their turn. We can not comprehend the poverty, the
suffering or the circumstances of these dear people. May God burden our
hearts for this GREAT, VAST, WHITE HARVEST FIELD!

Saturday was a Day Convention on a large Afrikaans farm near Belfast, SA.
The large farmhouse was full of sincere hearted souls. The yard was
noisy and busy with the activities of the children. One of our dear
Bible Methodist lay preachers shared a very comprehensive seminar on the
evils of Television and it's influence in the home. He had his facts
together supported by charts, statistics, and specifics. Tea breaks
accompanied by all sorts of homemade goodies provided wonderful times of
fellowship throughout the morning. Lunch was served about 1pm and then I
spoke to the group on "How God Transforms Us" (the Process of
Sanctification) in the afternoon. Tear filled eyes, yearning
countenances, and notes taken assured me that the people were seriously
embracing the message.

Sunday was again designated a Holiness Convention at the church in
Middelburg. The house was full! Extra chairs had been brought in for the
day! I spoke at 9am from I Cor. 13 on "The Life of Love" (The Sanctified
Life) and at 11am on "Brokenness". A time of humbling, seeking and
brokenness followed the 11am service. God's presence was so real and
near. Many stayed to seek God and several sought reconciliation and
forgiveness of one another. This was such an answer to prayer! A
wonderful lunch was prepared and served to all at the Mission Residence.
This facility is wonderfully arranged and accommodating of these type
events. It is adequately large and affords a great place for fellowship.
We are truly blessed to have it! The 6pm service was not as well
attended, but God again helped as I spoke on Revival. A dear brother
who is a prominent attorney in Middelburg on Monday morning said to me as
I sat in his office...... "God met with us on Sunday!" I am sure that
it was only in answer to someone's prayers here at home! THANK YOU FOR
PRAYING!

Challenges in South Africa almost overwhelm me! Circumstances there are
so depressing! The needs are staggering! But God is at work in the
midst of it all! He has a plan! I want to seek and find His Agenda for
this great harvest field! Join me in praying the The LORD of Harvest
will SEND FORTH.... !! Here am I Lord...... Send Me!"

Bus and Outreach Convention
-March 8-10, 2005
-Union Bible College, Westfieild, Indiana
-A group of Great Lakes Conference pastors will be travelling to Westfield. We want to show our support when this great convention is brought to our area and, we want to glean new passion and tools for winning the lost. We will be sharing the cost of the gas money and a small donation to the people who are allowing us to use their home. PLEASE HELP YOUR PASTOR ATTEND THIS VERY IMPORTANT CONVENTION. We have minimized the cost as much as possible by traveling together and not using motels.
Around the Conference
-Pastor Brian Bailey has just returned from a tour to the Holy Land with a group from Hobe Sound. He has stories and more stories!!! I am looking forward to hearing him preach with the "I have been there" fire.
-Muskegon/Sparta church family are expecting to move to their new property in about a month. They have located a lovely home with a meeting room and acreage on the highway between Grand Rapids and Muskegon. Please pray that God will bless and impact their community.
-Pastor Tom Miller (Youth Pastor at Concord) has moved into his home, however, he is needing work. Please pray for his ministry and his family.
-Pastor Jon Watters has been asked to participate as a committee member for Heath and Sex Education Cirriculum. This committee will recommend the guidelines for Concord Public Schools K-12th grades. Presently the middle school is using Focus on the Family materials. Please lift Bro. Watters in prayer as he serves in this capacity.
-The Ironwood Church is enjoying the ministry of UBC ministerial students and the Lord has been blessing the services. Please pray for God's continued guidance.
-Pastor Seth Wetherald is getting aquainted with the Garfield family and community. For these winter months they have moved the midweek service into the parsonage. The Houghs are a great blessing and support during this transition time. It was our privilege to share in the installation service and, also, to honor the Houghs for their years of service.
-The newest parsonage babies are doing well -- little miss Byer at Dawn Valley, and young master Hilling at Vandercook.
-Please pray for the Lepages and the challenge of a pioneer work in Sault Ste. Marie. We are in critical need of God's leadership.

Personal Schedule
Saundy and I were privileged to fly to Tacoma, Washington, for an eleven day indoor camp. We have known the camp leaders, Rev. and Mrs. Paul Taylor for some time. It was a wonderful delight to be with them and to meet many new friends. We enjoyed the transparency and love of these dear people. It was a joy that Saundy and I will not soon forget. After the camp we visited the Seatle market and Mt. Rainier. Wow!!!!!l
After returning to Michigan, we hurried up to Seth and Heidi's to get Kenny and Derek. Saundy had been pretty homesick halfway through our stay. Then it was time to prepare for Marriage Matters in Sugarcreek, Ohio. We were to share in the final presentation of those two rich days. Our assignment was Marriage by Design -- Designed to Last. I had prepared a Powerpoint presentation and Saundy and I shared the speaking part. The Lord helped us.

After the Marriage Retreat we drove down to Cincinnati to get Cherie for her Winter Break. We were traveling home late on Friday evening when the fuel pump on the car died near Bowling Green. So... after nearly a couple of hours we were taken to a nearby motel and waited for the car to be repaired the next day. We were back on the road about two o'clock Saturday afternoon and headed for Michigan. The Lord blessed our day at Rock Lake on Sunday.
This Sunday I will be visiting the Greenville. A heavy snowfall cancelled my visit of a few weeks ago.

Let's move up close to the Lord. In cell group at Rock Lake last night, Bro. Card mentioned that he had heard Dr. Brown say that the scriptural terminology for what we call "cooling off", etc, is really that of "hardening our hearts". May the God of heaven help us to keep our hearts tender and sensitive to His nudges and checks.

Dear Update family,
Saundy and I will be flying to Washington for a camp meeting that will go over the next two Sundays. We will leave on Wednesday, January 26 and return on Wednesday, February 9th. As the Lord reminds you of us, please ask the Lord for His anointing to rest upon us as I preach and we do some singing.

Brrrrrr!!! Wow, it is rather chilly! We returned yesterday from Garfield where Seth and Heidi have settled in as the new pastor. Last Sunday morning was a very special service as the transfer of pastor duties and reponsibilities from Rev. Kimberland Hough to Rev. Seth Wetherald were made in a gracious ceremony.
I wish you could have been there as the Houghs and Wetheralds stood together at the front of the church and then as the church family shared their appreciation and welcome. On top of that, a brand new family with four children was sitting in the second to front seat because that was the pew available for their whole family. There very forty seven present and God's presence was very evident. The Houghs will be staying in the area for now and are a wonderful support to the new pastor.
We left Seth and Heidi yesterday after Saundy took Heidi for groceries since their car wouldn't start. It doesn't seem to like the cold weather.
Please Pray For:
Continue to pray for Bro. Sams and Bro. Sankey as they minister in the Philippines. May the power of the Holy Spirit be evident in their preaching. Ironwood needs a special touch from the Lord as they work through this time of transition. Please pray for them.
The new parsonage arrivals-- Dawn Valley and Vandercook --- that God will care from the mothers and babies.
Let us pray for revival in our churches!
Saundy and I are to fly to Tacoma, Washington, next week for an indoor 11 day camp. Please pray for me as I preach and it looks like we will be singing once in each service.
